Police car-Sept2013-01Bail was not sought for a man arrested during an Armed Offenders’ Squad call-out in Linwood, when he appeared before the Christchurch District Court today.

Craig Maurice Jarden, 23, denied all the charges before the court and Judge Stephen O’Driscoll remanded him in custody to a case review hearing on March 2.

He pleaded not guilty to five charges of breaching protection orders and one of threatening to kill or cause grievous bodily harm.

Police said the call-out was a planned operation, which centred on a property in Hereford Street, and closed several streets between Fitzgerald Ave and Stanmore Rd shortly before 5pm yesterday.

Defence counsel Richard Peters said Jarden was seeking a judge-alone trial.

“There won’t be any other application at this stage,” he said. “I reserve the position on bail.”
