Receiving stolen trailers, tools admitted
An Oxford contractor admitted receiving trailers and tools worth at least $12,000 and being reckless about whether or not they had been stolen, in the Christchurch District Court yesterday.
David John Hunter, 31, pleaded guilty to a new charge of receiving a trailer and concrete placing tools valued at more than $1000 on or before March 1, and a representative charge of receiving three trailers worth $11,000.
Police then withdrew the original charges of stealing the tools and trailers, and Judge Brian Callaghan remanded Hunter on bail to appear for sentencing on October 20.
Judge Callaghan ordered a pre-sentence report and a report to assess the suitability of a home detention sentence.
