A second arrest warrant has been issued after a repeat no-show by a man charged with unlawful possession of firearms in a police raid on a Yaldhurst property last month.
One arrest warrant was issued when Dean Walter Louis failed to appear at the Christchurch District Court on police bail on April 12.
He later made an appearance at the Court House and was granted a registrar’s remand to yesterday on two charges of unlawfully being in possession of .22 rifles, and intentionally obstructing a police officer.
When he failed to appear at court again yesterday, a second warrant was issued.
Louis, 29, was arrested after police executed a search warrant on a Yaldhurst Road property on April 6. Part of the road was closed for nearly two hours while the search went ahead, and police said officers and a police dog were attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier which was “shot and destroyed” on the property.
Louis has entered no pleas to the charges.
