Police say Paul William Abbott, who has caused concern with his online dating activities in Marlborough, is back in Canterbury.
They allege he was in Rolleston, just south of Christchurch, last Friday when he was stopped for driving while forbidden.
They have also laid two charges dating back to March, alleging he obtained $580 and $940 by deception at Christchurch and at Oxford, inland from the city.
Abbott, a 33-year-old whose address is given as Allenton in Ashburton for all three charges, was scheduled to make an appearance in the Christchurch District Court this morning.
When he had not arrived at the Court House by 1pm, a warrant to arrest was issued.
Marlborough women have alleged in a report published last month that Abbott has been wooing them on Internet dating sites using false names.
The woman did not allege he had taken anything from them, but they were concerned about the truth of the personal background he had given them.
Some said he had described himself as a stock car driver, but when one of them spoke to people involved in the Marlborough stock car scene they had never met him.
It is believed he stopped his contact with the women from about mid-April and his location since then was not known, until the charge sheets were issued in the Christchurch court today.
