The trial of 10 men charged with the kidnapping and wounding of a rival gang member has been set for August 22, six months ahead of the date originally proposed.
The new date was set at a pre-trial call-over before Justice Cameron Mander in the High Court at Christchurch today.
The 10 men have denied the charges relating to an incident in August 2015, when a 34-year-old Dallington man, Dawson Reihana, was allegedly kidnapped and bashed.
They have pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Some are on bail and some remain in custody during the remand.
The trial had originally been set for February 2017.
Reihana was badly injured and hospitalised after the incident.
