Man denies sex offending spanning 49 years

Court House-general2A 65-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to 12 sex abuse charges spanning 49 years.

Name suppression for James Grainger was lifted in the Christchurch District Court today, when the pensioner entered his pleas.

Judge David Saunders remanded Grainger on bail to a Crown case review hearing on August 8.

The offending is alleged to have occurred in Christchurch, Dunedin, and the West Coast from 1964 to 2013, on male victims.

The offending alleges Granger did indecent acts after offering money or alcohol, and sexual violation.

While on bail Granger is forbidden to be in the company of anyone aged under 16 unless in the company of another adult.
