Man faces further jail term for sex offences

chch-court-roomA 51-year-old man already serving time for sex offending now faces a long jail term after admitting sexual abuse of another teenage girl.

David Wharara Keepa’s sexual abuse occurred when the girl was aged 13 and 14.

He pleaded guilty in the Christchurch District Court today to two representative charges of raping her, sexually violating her with his finger, and by performing oral sex on her.

Judge Raoul Neave remanded him for sentence on November 1 and asked for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Keepa remains in prison, serving an eight-and-a-half year jail term imposed four years ago after he admitted four charges of sexual violation and three of indecency involving a 13-year-old girl.

At the request of that girl and her family, name suppression was lifted on Keepa at his sentencing in August 2009.

At the time of that sentencing, Keepa was described as a sickness beneficiary. His pre-sentence report said that he suffered from depression and was suicidal.
