A man on life parole for the murder of an 11-year-old admitted taking off his electronic bracelet and leaving his parole address at Odyssey House.
Robin James Pitney, 40, was 15 when he attacked Leif Wulff in Caroline Bay, Timaru in 1991.
The boy was stabbed in the back, front, and hands, and died on the beachfront.
In the Christchurch District Court, Pitney pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching his special release conditions.
Judge Jane Farish said Pitney was subject to a recall application, and sentenced him to two months’ prison.
She said he had served a lengthy time in custody and when released was trying to have a normal life with lots of conditions. He ran from Odyssey House after a bad drug test.
She said it would be up to the parole board to set a new release date for him.
